Hi guys!! Today I will be talking about micellar waters and which ones I use.
First I want to talk about what “micellar” in micellar water stands for. Micellar water consists of small particles called micelles, which are dispersed in a solvent, water. Those micelles are emulsifiers. They have an oil-loving tail that attracts dirt, oil, and makeup (anything solvent in oil) and a water-loving head which enables the micelles to dissolve impurities in water so they can easily be wiped away.
Micellar water also contains pH adjusters, moisturisers, preservatives,… And though I have read many articles that micellar waters don’t have to be rinsed off, I still do it myself. I also read that people who didn’t rinse it off, started to develop an itchy, dry skin. So this is only a precaution step by me, to always rinse micellar water off.
I have used quite a few micellar waters myself and one micellar gel. So keep reading if you want to know which ones suit my skin best.
Skin Perfection Micellar Gel – L’Oreal Paris
This was my first encounter with micellar thing. I bought it to remove eye make up, but it wasn’t very good at it. I think the gel form isn’t ok for the eyes, because it was running in to them and I wear contact lenses, so it got stuck on them. Because of that, I always had to remove lenses right after I used this gel. So I didn’t repurchase it and I won’t use it all the way.
Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution – Bioderma
This is probably the most raved about micellar water I know. I’ve heard so many good reviews, so I had to buy it myself. And at first I was very impressed. It does remove make up the best of all, but in time it did start to dry my skin out. Even though I was rinsing it of with water. So now I use it only for eye make up and I don’t think I will repurchase it, because the next two micellar waters do their job quite all right.
Sebium H2O Micelle Solution – Bioderma
This was my next purchase after I was disappointed with the gel I mentioned before. I bought it, because of the sebium control and I am still, after three repurchases, very satisfied with it. It removes make up, cleanses my skin and most of all it doesn’t dry my skin in any way. So I think I will repurchase this solution as long as they will be making it.
Ultra Micellar Water* – La Roche-Posay
I was very happy when Slovenian La Roche-Posay sent me this micellar water. Their products are renowned for their quality, so I was eager to use it.
At first I didn’t like it and I thought it was the reason for my dry eye lid, but with that gone and me still using it, I realised it must have been something else that dried the skin on the lid. Now I use it alternately with Bioderma Sebium, because I can’t decide which one is better. They both work similarly on my skin. So I will definitely purchase this one again, once I run out of it.
So, my two favourites are LRP Micellar Water and Bioderma Sebium H2O. And which ones are yours? And do you rinse it of with water or do you just leave it on your skin?
