Let’s talk about hydration. Do you do enough to keep your skin hydrated? Facial skin yes, and what about other parts of your body? Well, I have to admit that while I take good, amazing even, care of my facial skin, I do tend to neglect the rest of the skin. I don’t like the sweaty feeling under my knees, in my inner side of the elbows and anywhere two parts of the skin touch, especially in the summer time. So I only moisturise lower parts of my legs, because they tend to get very dry and the outer parts of my arms.
And let’s not forget that drinking water is the most important way of hydrating your whole body. But with the care we dedicate to the skin from the outside, we can contribute to a better looking skin too. If the skin is well hydrated it is plump and smooth. But if the skin is not hydrated enough, it gets dry and then wrinkles tend to appear. So take good care of your skin, inside and out!
But, I didn’t intend to dedicate this post to my whole body, just to my face. So let me start talking about the products I use and why I use them.
Products With Hyaluronic Acid
It comes in many forms, as a 2% Hyaluronic Acid, as a serum, as eye pads or sheet masks. At least these are the types I have tried. And I need to emphasise here, that you shouldn’t leave hyaluronic acid to completly dry. You have to seal it with something occlusive, so that it holds the moisture from the air. Otherwise the moisture will evaporate and it will start to bind the moisture from your skin, thus drying your skin even more. So be careful with that.
The Ordinary – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 – this is my absolute favourite. I use it on a daily basis, as a part of my morning and evening routine as I have talked about it in the this post. And the best part is it is quite cheep and very effective.
Afrodita Cosmetics – Hydro Tonic – is one of my favourite toners. I think this is the fourth bottle I am using and I will keep repurchasing it. I spray my face with it right before I apply the hyaluronic acid over it, so it can keep al the good stuff from the toner on my skin.
Annemarie Börlind – Hyaluronate Moisturising Serum* – I use it a few times a week instead of TO Hyaluronic Acid. It has an alcohol in the second place on the ingredients list and Sodium Hyaluronate very low on the list, so I am not sure about this product. There is too much alcohol, which gives an instant cooling effect, but it can dry your skin out. So be careful.
Annemarie Börlind – Hyaluronic Eye Pads* – I used them a couple of times. The hyaluronic acid is low on the list again, so I am not sure if there is enough of it to benefit from it. However, after removing the eye pads, the cooling effect remained on my skin and I felt like my skin was less puffy. More fitting to the bones, with no extra something under there. So that was great. But I don’t believe that is the effect of hyaluronic acid, so other ingredients must have done their job.
Mists, Thermal Waters and Flower Waters
There is something about freshly sprayed mist or thermal/flower water on my face. The freshness of it, especially in the hot summer days, is amazing. The instant cooling effect feels so good.
Vichy – Thermal Spa Water* – it has a great sprayer, the water drops are well distributed, so you get an even amount of water on all of the face. It’s great to freshen up the face and is handy for carrying it around in your bag/purse.
L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime – Perfecting Mist – I used to use this a lot as a toner. But I don’t know why I stopped using it in that way. Well, now I use it to freshen up during the day and have I mentioned how great it smells!
Melvita – Plumping Radiance Duo – I talked about this product in my skin care routine and I have to tell you that this is a repurchased bottle. I love it so much. Although it is not solely flower water, it does contain it, quite a lot actually, so I had to put in this post. It does an amazing job in terms of hydration and moisturisation. And I will have to try the Damask Rose floral water, because I heard so much good about it. And since it is in this duo, I have to try it separately too.
Then there are sheet masks. I had one from Missha – Real Essential Sheet Mask – Hyaluronic Acid, but I can’t find it anywhere anymore. It was the best sheet mask I have ever tried. And I will try them from other brands to see if they will be as great as it was from Missha.
Do you have any suggestions for great floral waters or hydrating sheet masks for me? I would be most grateful if you share them with me in the comments bellow. Thank you in advance!! xoxoxo
