Sunscreen for face. The sun protection should be the main anti-aging step in your skin care routine. The sun can damage your skin pretty bad, so be careful not to get burnt and use protection when you’re exposed to the sun for a longer period of time. It can be the main reason why your skin is aging faster, so use the sunscreen in order to prevent that from happening. I have to admit, I don’t use it during the winter and fall, but I do use it during the summer and well, not always in spring. But I am trying to change that.
I do use foundation that already has an SPF in it and I feel like it’s enough. However, when I don’t have any make up on me, which is a lot lately, I will try and use face sunscreen more often.
Here are the two I’ve been using this summer. One proper sunscreen on my vacation and the other one that isn’t exactly a sunscreen, but is a treatment with SPF in it.
Vichy – Idéal Soleil Mattifying Face Dry Touch SPF 30
I’ve been using this one for the third summer now and I loved it every time. It was the only sunscreen that didn’t make me break out and I was sooo happy about that. But beside that it really gave me great protection during every summer. I didn’t get any sun burns, which is kind of its main job.
Hence the name it does mattify and it doesn’t leave any oily or greasy feeling on your skin. I absolutely love it because of that. So so far this is my favourite face sunscreen, but I have my eyes on NIOD’s and The Ordinary is bringing SPF protection to their range too. So I will be trying them, hopefully from both brands.
La Roche-Posay – Effaclar Duo [+] SPF 30*
I was very enthusiastic to try this one out, because I heard so much good about the original Duo Effaclar. I haven’t tried the original myself, but I did put much hope in the one with SPF.
It is said to be formulated for oily, blemish and acne-prone skin. Which is almost a description of my skin, not that oily, but still. And I was so sad to see that it made my skin even oiler at the end of the day. I used it under foundation and at the beginning the skin looked perfect and dewy. But at the end of the day I was getting too shiny, which never happens to me. So I was very sad to see that happen.
I even tried to mattify it with a mattifying powder and that worked pretty well. But still, if I wanted to wear it as the last step of my routine, it didn’t work well. So I will leave this product for now and I will try it again in the winter. I will report back then, hopefully with more satisfying results. And to be honest I am glad to use it in the winter as the sunscreen, even though its original purpose isn’t that. So I will get to you on more information in the winter, once I try it under different surcumstances.
Do you have any suggestions for me, which sunscreen works great on combination skin that is prone to blemishes? Because I want to find one for the winter time. I have a perfect one for the summer, but I am on the hunt for a winter sunscreen. Let me know!! xoxo
