Hi guys!! Today I am going to tell you what works great on my skin, facial that is. And please know that if this works on my skin, it won’t necessarily work on yours.
I also want you to know that I am not a skin expert or professional, I am merely sharing with you what works for me.
First off I want to tell you that I encountered acne problems only recently. I never had skin problems in my teens, but after the second birth in my thirties, they appeared. The problems with my thyroid also didn’t help, actually I think that was the main reason for acne. That and I had a skin routine that was too heavy for my skin type. I have a mixed, sometimes dry and sometimes oily skin. And it’s really not dependant on weather that much, so I have dry skin during summer or oily during winter. Crazy really.
So this post will be about me changing my skincare routine and with it getting rid of acne. Of course I had to put in order my thyroid first, otherwise I don’t think the acne would disappear that easily. I changed my skincare completely, for Vichy Normaderm line and a few products I was using before acne appeared.
But first things first. I wan’t to tell you what products I’ve been using when the acne problem emerged.
For cleaning my face I’ve been using L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil. I’ve read so many great reviews about this product and how well it takes off make up from your skin. Well, it doesn’t, at least not from my skin. And I didn’t know that until we went on our vacation and there they had only white towels. To my big surprise the towel was all dirty when I wiped my face with it. And that was after cleaning it with Shea Cleansing Oil. You know when you use a small amount of foundation and the cleanser still can’t get it off of your face, that means that it’s not working properly. And if the leftovers of makeup are still present on your skin, the pores start to clog and in my case the acne appear.
Then I sprayed my face with a tonic. This had no effect on acne, because I was using it before also.
And then I applied L’Occitane Shea Light Comforting Face Cream. I’ve been told that if you have oily skin you should use heavy creams for your face, because the skin lacks oils and such. What a mistake. And for a short term I even used the heavier version, The Ultra Rich Comforting Cream. I soon realised I was shining like crazy so I switched to the lighter version. But yes, this was the biggest mistake of my life.
So after coming home from our vacation and still full of acne (this was going on for almost a year), I dropped the skin care completely and let my skin breathe and heal on its own. My thyroid was ok since the beginning of summer. But I still had problems with acne due to the wrong products I’ve been using. So I knew I had to make a change in that department.
I’ve been using Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Dry Touch cream (a sunscreen) during our vacation and it felt so calming and great on my skin. So I said to myself I should try something from Vichy. And I went to pharmacy and asked for Idealia testers. Along with those testers the pharmacist gave me testers of Normaderm Night Detox. And I am so thankful for that. I used it twice and it was already making such progress on my skin, all those painful lumps were slowly melting and they stopped hurting. I tested it for a week and then I decided I should go and grab the full product.
And that is when I also started using Balea Erfrischendes Waschgel again, the only cleanser that removed all of my makeup. And the tonic, which has been a part of my routine forever. After that I also bought Normaderm Anti-Blemish Care day cream and Normaderm Hyaluspot.
So, in the morning I usually clean my face with Balea Erfrischendes Waschgel and then I spray it with a tonic. After the tonic dries I apply a very thin layer of Normaderm Hyaluspot on most critical areas (chin, cheeks and jaws). And after it is dry I apply Normaderm Anti-Blemish Care day cream throughout my whole face. I do every step the same in the evening , just the last one is Normaderm Night Detox and not the day cream. And ever since my skin has been soft, well nourished and acne free. They still do emerge from time to time (when my ovulation is on), but they don’t hurt, they don’t fully develop and they disappear much faster. And since I’ve been using Hyaluspot as a prevention, I haven’t got any new ones. So yes, this line has been life changing for me.
But with all that said, please don’t rush in to a drug store and buy these exact products if you have same problems as me. Because they might not work on you as they do on me. I have to add that my skin is suffering from an over production of sebum. And if I add any oils to my skin, they start to clog my pores. Apparently the sebum of my skin is enough. And the Normaderm Night cream for oily skin helps to control the production of sebum and purifies the skin. If your skin has the same problems, than this line might help you, otherwise I am not so sure.
