Essie Spring 2017 – B’Aha Moment Collection – Swatches & Review

essie spring 2017

Hi everyone!! So after a lot of swatching and photo editing I finally present to you Essie Spring 2017 collection. I must say I like colors much better in person than over the web. And one in particular was a surprise favourite of mine. The collection is versatile and very colorful, so there is a shade for everyone here, I’m sure. Now let’s get to swatches so you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Here they are.

Excuse Me, Sur – Essie Spring 2017

This is a peachy nude and I was surprised that it looked good on me. Usually peach polishes aren’t the most flattering on my skin tone.

It looked a bit streaky at first, but once it was dry it evened out. I suggest using a fast drying top coat with this one, because bubbles were starting to appear after I was done with photographing. And it needed two coats for full opacity.

Backseat Besties – Essie Spring 2017

It looks a bit less pink in person than here, or maybe less cool pink and more warm pink. It still is a beautiful cool toned pink, but not as much as in the photos.

Formula is a bit watery, but not in a bad way. I think it makes it easier to apply. This one needed two coats for full opacity and there were some bubbles here to, so the fast drying top coat might be in order here too.

B’aha Moment! – Essie Spring 2017

It’s a gorgeous shade for me, but I feel like I’ve seen it so many times.

It’s a one coater. You can see the middle finger is painted with only one coat. I prefer two, because it looks more glossy with two coats. But for full opacity one is enough, because of great pigmentation. And the application was very easy.

Designated DJ – Essie Spring 2017

This one is not the most unique too. I will do the comparison post, so I will check if I have any dupes. But there is one that pops in to my mind.

As silly as this may sound, but this polish applied with such elegance. I don’t know, maybe the brush was thin and long or maybe there is something else that makes the application itself elegant.

The consistency of this formula is just right and it was opaque in two easy coats.

All The Wave – Essie Spring 2017

Oh this blue. This was the surprising favourite of the collection. It’s so much prettier in person and photos don’t do it justice. It’s a muted blue with a hint of purple in it, but just a hint (it’s not a blurple).

It was also opaque in one coat and again you can see the middle finger covered with one coat and the rest with two. Easy application and amazing glossy effect with two coats.

On The Roadie – Essie Sprinmg 2017

And another surprising beauty. It is a light natural green that will be perfect for nail art or as a sole manicure.

It was opaque in two coats and very easy to apply.

So, how do you feel about the Essie Spring 2017 collection? I think they did great job this year. They put a lot of color in to this collection and I like it, bright an colorful.

    Hi Metka !
    Perfect swatches as always !
How was the application of Excuse me sur for you ?
Did you use Fill the gap ?

It’s funny because Ba’ha moment looks like Bond St from Cirque, but Bond st seems slightly darker and magenta.

Thanks for your review, can’t wait to have those !

The application with Excuse Me, Sur was a bit hard. I don’t know, I don’t have many issues, because I am used to this kind of formulas, but it wasn’t the easiest. Streaky with first coat, still a bit streaky with the second, but when it dried it did even out. I used Millionails, so maybe with Fill the gap the application would be easier and more even from the start :).

I will do the comparison shpots of the collection and will include Bond St too. Bond St is a bit darker and maybe muted compared to B’aha Moment.

      And thank you Cassandra :*

Ahhhh, I think it explains a lot ! The Millionails base coat is very streaky and not helpful at all when it comes to layer another polish on it.

I do think that it might be better for sure with Fill the gap ! πŸ˜‰

Lookin forward your next post <3

So true. It’s fairly hard to work with some polishes over Millionails, but I don’t know why, I always pick it πŸ™‚ . I will use Fill The Gap next time, hopefully πŸ˜€
