Hi guys!!! Today I have Essie Fall 2016 Kimono-Over collection for you. I must admit I wasn’t sure whether I liked the polishes or not when I first saw them. But the more I’ve been seeing them on the internet, the more I wanted them. So in the end I caved in and ordered them and I am not sorry for doing so. I l.o.v.e them all ♥.
At first I was surprised to see the pink and the blue in the fall collection, but when I actually saw them swatched and they looked perfect for this season. In the beginning I thought they were dupes of the polishes from last year’s winter collection, but they are not. And you can check here for yourself: Essie Winter 2015 – Virgin Snow Collection. And the purple and the red were questionable too. And the grey as a matter of fact. But they all ended up being unique.
Now start with the swatches.
Udon Know Me – Essie Fall 2016
This is a blue/grey or a muted blue creme polish. To my surprise from what I’ve seen on the web, I ended up loving this polish. It feels so soft and comfortable on the nails.
The formula here was thick, but not too thick and it can be hard to work with if you’re not careful. I did a normal first coat and a not too lumpy second coat. And I was very careful to apply it evenly, even though in the end the polish levelled itself out beautifully.
Now And Zen – Essie Fall 2016
This polish has the same formula as the previous one. Maybe it was a bit harder to work with, but I managed to pull it through. Maybe you can manage this formula better with the wider EU brush.
It’s a grey polish and to my surprise again I like it a lot. It kind of grew on me :).
Go Go Geisha – Essie Fall 2016
Oh my!! This polish is a stunner to me. As I wrote above the first thoughts were that it’s a dupe of Peak Show, but it’s not. It’s soft and comfy, it feels like your nails are wrapped in cashmere and it gives you a lavish feeling.
I applied it the same as the first two, but I did see some bubbles starting to appear. So you might want to add a fast drying top coat to prevent bubbling.
Playing Koi – Essie Fall 2016
This polish. I say it’s perfect for fall and at the same time it’s hard to wear. You need to be careful what colours you’ll wear with it. It’s a bit darker in person and I like it better in person than in these photos, but still, I can’t decide whether I like it or not. I do love it, but at the same time I don’t. I bet you’re confused right now, as am I. 😀
I did two coats for full opacity, a second was lumpy. The formula of the polish has a touch of jelly in it, so maybe you should do three thin layers instead. Because bubbles were emerging here too. So a fast drying top coat is a must here too.
Maki Me Happy – Essie Fall 2016
This is another beauty for me *_*. Such a beautiful berry shade and it looks so beautiful on my hands ♥.
The formula of this one had a touch of jelly too, but the application was easy. I did two coats for full opacity, one thin and the other a bit more lumpy to cover everything.
Kimono-Over – Essie Fall 2016
Again, WAW *_*. A deep purple with warm undertones. It makes my hands so elegant and mysterious. And the polish doesn’t turn black once it’s on the nails. It’s still purple, a very dark purple, but definitely not black.
This formula was spot on, perfect in every aspect!
So guys, what are your thoughts on this Essie Fall 2016 collection? I love them all, although I have a strange relationship with one shade :). All in all I think it’s a great collection, it’s just that some shades might be better for the winter.
And let’s have a final look at all of them.
