Hi guys!! Summer is just around the corner, well basically it was supposed to be here a long time ago, but it’s still only 20-23 degrees outside (Celsius that is :D) and I don’t take that as a proper summer. So yes, it’s waiting around the corner and I hope it rushes out in the open really soon! For now, let’s pretend we’re somewhere on the beach, where the weather is hot and the sun is shining.
Meanwhile let’s take a look at the beauties from Essie Summer 2016 Viva Antigua! collection. We have three cremes and three shimmers and they are all stunning!! Some of the shades aren’t the most unique, but if you don’t have anything like them, well, then you must have these :).
Let’s take a look.
Coconut Cove – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
I love this shade. I have to admit I am a sucker for this type of of whites. They are not totally white and they make your hands look beautifully tanned. Perfect for summer!
The formula however is not that perfect. The first coat was streaky, so I did a lumpy second coat. It didn’t totally level out things but once it was dry it got better. I think a coat of top coat would totally even out the polish. What you see here is without a top coat. All the polishes are without the top coat. But again, I love it and I would buy it again :D.
And the comparisons shot. Here you can see that I don’t have a dupe for this polish. And that Urban Jungle and Between The Seats aren’t dupes either.
Berried Treasures – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
This is another gorgeous creme polish from the Essie Summer 2016 collection. It’s not unique at all, but if you don’t own a colour like this yet, you should grab this one.
It’s almost a one coater. It’s a neon red/pink and it’s crazy saturated with pigments. The formula is easy to work with. I did two coats here and no top coat.
Here is a comparisons shot.
Hiking Heels – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
This is not the most unique shade either, but I don’t have a dupe from Essie. So that’s a plus. And it’s a perfect bright red for the summer or any time of year as a matter of fact.
This is a one coater. A formula was a mix of jelly and creme finish. It was more creme, but it was a thin creme. And it was very opaque.
And the comparisons shot.
Now let’s start with the shimmers.
Loot The Booty – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
*_* I couldn’t believe my eyes. The shimmer was stunning. It’s visible and it’s reflecting amazingly. I love love love it! It’s a unique polish and I don’t have anything like it in my stash. It’s a must have I tell you!!
The formula was easy to work with and the polish was opaque in two coats.
Look at the macro shot bellow. It looks like one of those scatter holo polishes from Picture Polish but without the holo effect and I love it for that. It’s really stunning!!
Tribal Text-Styles – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
I still don’t know what to think of the black in the summer collection, but it’s not a plain black, it’s sparkly black, so I suppose it’s allowed to be here :). The base polish is very similar to the Over The Edge polish, sheerish shimmer. But this polish has extra shimmer in it and it’s multi coloured. It’s saturated with this multi coloured shimmer.
When I started applying it I wasn’t that impressed with it, but when the polish dried, it started to show its gorgeousness. It needs two coats for full opacity.
And in person it looks a bit holographic because of all tha sparkle that contains.
And some comparisons, but no dupe here. Private Jet is the closest regarding multicoloured shimmer, but it’s greyer than Tribal Text-Styles.
Viva Antigua – Essie Summer 2016 Collection
I am wearing it right now and in person is a bit greener than here in the photos. The shimer is there but I would like it better if it was as sparkly as it is in the bottle.
It was opaque in two coats. The formula seemed sheer in some spots, but the second lumpy coat covered everything beautifully.
So, here they are, swatched and reviewed. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Loot The Booty. It’s my favourite of the collection and it’s just stunning!!
What about you? What do you think of this collection? And feel free to comment. I fixed the problem with comments, so now you can comment again ;).
Thank you for reading and don’t miss my next post which will be full of vivid and sparkly polishes ;).
