Hi everyone!!! Today you will see my favourite Essie collection so far this year. I was waiting for the spring collection to come up anxiously and when it did I was sooo disappointed. None of the colours were what I was looking for at the time. And then Essie Bridal 2016 collection showed up and I said, well this should have been the spring one! 🙂 It really should have! It has everything the spring collection should contain, pastels, shimmer and nudes. And I am sooo happy Essie got bold with their Bridal collection, because to me the colours are perfect.
The formula wasn’t the same with all the polishes, but I’ll talk about it later. Let’s start with the swatches and the review.
Coming Together – Essie Bridal 2016
I wanted to have this type of sheer polish for such a long time. I loooooooove the shade. I was kind of afraid of this lacquer, because I really don’t like applying this type of sheers. They tend to end up looking jelly streaky and I don’t like that. But no, this one was pure perfection ♥.
I applied three coats to make it fully opaque. I don’t like the sheer look, so I always apply three coats with these sheers and I love the outcome here, a jelly, squishy pink. I think it would look amazing in a gradient with a sheer white.
Between The Seats – Essie Bridal 2016
I love this colour too. It even produces lilac undertones in natural light. So beautiful.
But, the formula is not that great. It was streaky on the first coat, better with the second one, but still not totally even. So I applied one coat of top coat (Good To Go) and that evened it out beautifully. A polish should look perfect on its own, but I think it is not such a problem since we all put top coats on top of our manis to make them last longer. But I’m mentioning it anyway because you might do your manicures without a top coat.
Passport To Happiness – Essie Bridal 2016
Such a beautiful turquoise *_*. And it’s shimmery :).
First coat was patchy and uneven, the second coat was a bit better and the third evened it out beautifully. At first the polish looked a mixture of frosty and shimmer finish, but when it dried the frosty part disappeared. And the formula itself was kind of funny. It was drying fast, but at the same time it was running in to my cuticles. I don’t know what was going on here, but I have never had a polish like this before. So strange. But all the fussiness was worth it, because it’s gorgeous!!
Mrs Always-Right – Essie Bridal 2016
Oh that name :). It’s perfect! 🙂
This shade was my favourite when I first saw the collection on the web and I must say it didn’t disappoint. It’s perfect in every aspect. It’s a one coater, but I did two. The polish went on like a butter. It was easy to work with around the cuticles. I tell you, a perfect polish!
Groom Service – Essie Bridal 2016
And the last one I have. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! Perfect lilac!
The formula was perfect and I did two easy coats to make it look this gorgeous *_*.
But here I had a bit of a problem with the brush. It kind of looks funny so every time I see it or think about it I smile :). Look, I’ll show you a photo and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
The left is obviously the bad one and the right one is what the American version of the brush should be. It looks like it went through a lot :). So I changed it with the brush from one of my used up bottles of Good To Go topper.
I didn’t get the sixth shade, Steal His Name, because it was sold out. But to tell you the truth I don’t miss it, to me the collection is perfect without it.
I searched my stash for dupes, but there aren’t any. Yey!! The closest is Urban Jungle, but it’s browner than Between The Seats, which is more on the grey side.
And what about you guys, what do you think of this collection? And what are your thoughts on the spring one?
But I did get me the Retro Revival Collection, so you can check the swatches in the link.
